Turning over a new leaf

Lorenzo Duran leaf cut art - caterpillar that loos like it has eaten the leaf

I know. Amazing isn’t it? And you thought this post was going to be about New Year’s Resolutions, didn’t you?

Lorenzo Durán is a Spanish artist who must have amazing eyesight and an aversion to too much coffee to keep his steady hand.

He is perfecting his skill for leaf cutting using ancient Chinese traditional techniques. I think they look pretty perfect already.

The leaves are picked, washed dried and pressed before the cutting process begins. Lorenzo uses his drawing attached to the leaf which is peeled off at the end. This last step can lead to the ruination of days of work if not done properly.

You can read more about his thoughts and processes in his own words on his website here.

About gillianloves

I decided there was not enough laughing in my life so I set to and started to design greeting cards in addition to my other design work. I'm happy to make people smile and to show that giving something really good takes as little effort as sending something pretty ordinary. I fully believe that if you can laugh about it someday you may as well laugh about it today. And also that we are just about as happy as we try to be. But you should know, Pollyanna I'm not. Even I might want to slap her after a day or so.
