Spring in my step at Australia’s Floriade

Swathes of tulips with gum trees in the background

Orange tulips with the sun behind them. You just can’t beat a flower festival on a sunny day. Even a rainy day.  This weekend we had both extremes of weather… and you know what? There was something nice about both of them. Sitting on a marquee verandah (out of the rain) drinking coffee next to swathes of tulips and watching the world go by was fabulous.  So much so we came back the next day to do it some more.

Rain kept the crowds down at and in the soft light the flowers really made bright spots of loveliness. On the sunny day the flowers were on fire.

Flower beds with trees and pond in background

Some of the crowd needed to be on fire too. Apparently people have been seen to dump their kiddies amongst the flowers, take a snap and run away. We didn’t see any of that.  Lots of signs though > Please do not enter flowerbeds. Way too polite I think.

Sadly, Floriade is nearly over for another year, ends 14 October 2012.
Get your skates on if you plan to go.

Happy weekend everyone!

About gillianloves

I decided there was not enough laughing in my life so I set to and started to design greeting cards in addition to my other design work. I'm happy to make people smile and to show that giving something really good takes as little effort as sending something pretty ordinary. I fully believe that if you can laugh about it someday you may as well laugh about it today. And also that we are just about as happy as we try to be. But you should know, Pollyanna I'm not. Even I might want to slap her after a day or so.
