There is just something about old printing…

CLose up of tiny postcard from the 1940s showing the coarse screen ruling used for printingI love old printing. Old posters, old postcards, old anything.  It’s something about the coarse screen rulings and definitely something about the colours.  When they discovered how to do full colour, man, they Went To Town.

The results are gaudy and bright and evocative of the 40s and 50s. I love it.

These pics are by EF Clements. I googled but didn’t find out much. San Francisco in the 1940s is the best I got. They are tiny postcards. I don’t expect you’d post them though.  Maybe picture cards is a better description.  Who cares, they are fabulous.

About gillianloves

I decided there was not enough laughing in my life so I set to and started to design greeting cards in addition to my other design work. I'm happy to make people smile and to show that giving something really good takes as little effort as sending something pretty ordinary. I fully believe that if you can laugh about it someday you may as well laugh about it today. And also that we are just about as happy as we try to be. But you should know, Pollyanna I'm not. Even I might want to slap her after a day or so.
