The romance of years gone by…

She turned away from a career, to meet romance and excitement in a quiet backwater.

Old romance book

Yes. “Backwater” says excitement to me. You?

Before you go thinking this is a book blog, it’s not.  When I was hunting around for books that I bought for their covers, I found this stack of beauties I got from my grandmother long, long ago. And yes, before you go trying to guess how old I am, they were old when I got them.

I just know I am going to have to read them again.  They are hilarious.  Sweet though and not raunchy. It’s all about the heart (and simmering passion, pathological jealousy and tortuous decisions). Proper Grandma material. I love them.

Group of old romance books

Apart from the happy chap on the cover of “A man of tomorrow” (who, incidentally, is called Clive), if you met a man who looked at you like any of the other three I suggest running. Clearly they have issues.

About gillianloves

I decided there was not enough laughing in my life so I set to and started to design greeting cards in addition to my other design work. I'm happy to make people smile and to show that giving something really good takes as little effort as sending something pretty ordinary. I fully believe that if you can laugh about it someday you may as well laugh about it today. And also that we are just about as happy as we try to be. But you should know, Pollyanna I'm not. Even I might want to slap her after a day or so.
