Old ads

I think old ads are amazing.  I have a great collection of them which explains why my office smells like Nana’s attic.

Funny, sometimes scary in their claims and designed so naively compared with the design of today. It’s interesting to see what was important back in the day that we’d just laugh out loud at now. Take this ad for instance. Instead of the sexy ruffled look he’d pay good money to achieve today, the look that would surely get a guy laid in 1952 is this….

It looks like ocean waves. I am sure there should be a dead seagull entangled it that slick somewhere. The lady doesn’t seem to mind. You can tell she is dying to run her hands through it and more

About gillianloves

I decided there was not enough laughing in my life so I set to and started to design greeting cards in addition to my other design work. I'm happy to make people smile and to show that giving something really good takes as little effort as sending something pretty ordinary. I fully believe that if you can laugh about it someday you may as well laugh about it today. And also that we are just about as happy as we try to be. But you should know, Pollyanna I'm not. Even I might want to slap her after a day or so.
