Coulda, woulda, shoulda…?

“Men may flirt with girls like that but they don’t marry them…”

Ah, a memorable quote from early on in Gone with the Wind by one of the uptight prissy girls jealous of fabulously vivacious Scarlett.

Those words apply to much of what we create here at Look Mama. We often have a couple of versions of a card knocking around and eventually have to choose one of them to send to print, and it is not always the fabulously vivacious one that makes the cut. Much as we know people will hoot with laughter or say “How awful” whilst laughing, we still need them to love it enough to want to buy it <marry it!> and not just flirt with the idea of buying it.

See below for example.  The left one is the one we wanted to print <so badly> and the right one is the one we did print. I can’t help looking at the left one and going “Coulda, woulda shoulda…”  But yeah, probably not… maybe one day we will do a book of all the cards that missed out.

About gillianloves

I decided there was not enough laughing in my life so I set to and started to design greeting cards in addition to my other design work. I'm happy to make people smile and to show that giving something really good takes as little effort as sending something pretty ordinary. I fully believe that if you can laugh about it someday you may as well laugh about it today. And also that we are just about as happy as we try to be. But you should know, Pollyanna I'm not. Even I might want to slap her after a day or so.
